june 4 - Portrait d'une femme en robe de satin bleu, 1760 Christian Friedrich Reinhold von Lisiewski

Portrait of a Lady in a Blue Satin Gown, 1760 by Christian Friedrich Reinhold von Lisiewski.

The first thing that always draws my attention is her hair, it must have taken so much effort to get it that perfect. Then the stomacher; for a gown that has only one colour it has a lot of detail. Also the finely pleated edge around the gown and the lace protecting her modesty, it’s a pity we can’t see the petticoat, I imagine it’s as elaborately decorated as the stomacher.
